One of the first ultrarunning events in Italy traversed the Dolomites and completely captured the heart of Cristina Murgia, who quickly became the co-race director of said race–the Lavaredo Ultra Trail–its founding year. Despite being a woman in a male-dominated culture, Murgia has continued to pioneer the sport in her home country and worldwide through race development, leadership, community, and media for the past 13 years.
