Volkswagen was one of the first automakers to build a truly dependable, easy-to-service modern small car with the original Beetle, and it was only fitting. After all, the company’s original mission was to develop a cheap-to-live-with commuter car for the people. The original led to a vastly expanded range of durable and well-liked cars like the Karmann-Ghia and Microbus, and eventually models like the Golf and Jetta.
